NEED TO BE AFRAID OF SECRET SERVICES?
This is paranoia story matters. You should read excellent science fiction story by famous S. LEM (Poland) named ANANKE where he is describing what is happening if some ANANCASTC CHARACTER is programming some "security system" and POLITICAL outcomes you may have been seen what happened to Germany's 3rd Reich, to former GERMAN DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC (where I come from) and to USSR. They had best spy-systems and it did help them nothing. - Any security extended to extremes is bringing about its OPPOSITES WHAT Greek named ENANTIODROMIA, that is asking for the opposite. So we should never forget to be really intelligent -INTELLIGENCE agency- it needs freedom of mind. In any "police state" this must die and so- watch movie BRAZIL- it might come to nothing. And, if you know some history-textbooks you also see that in many cases it has been "security" that took over states. So here again we see that " security" might turn out to be real problem. The more you ask of it the less you get. Funny, but so things are. So no need to really get paranoid, they are not that clever of any state would have less problems as they do. This is proof of their inability. Ruling is often done by inducing (unrealistic) fears so people obey in order to have to be timid. INTIMIDATING is half of art of government. But if you can stand fear, if you know fright and also know it will go away again...then you will be center of control.
WHY DO THEY HUNT WRITERS?
Police needing success and real gangsters being too dangerous. You might get killed meeting wrong person at right place. So writers are easy game. This is cause for their "hunt" and whole other causes already being named.
WOULD YOU COOPERATE WITH POLICE OR ANY OTHER INSTITUTION?
Certainly if they really want to learn anew. They would not ask any advice from a person like me otherwise because it is clear what I think and how I look at matters and that also it is well known that real problems are on SOCIAL field that needs tending...
DOES KASSEL GRAFFITI-ARCHIVE INTERFERE ON POLITICAL LEVEL?
Certainly, that is all we work about. Try to get things changed a little. We should not expect too much about it. It needs years to affect changes in complex systems like states are. But changes are about and the more people get interwoven into GRAFFITI-NETWORK the better chances we have.
WHAT DO YOU REALLY DO?
Letters to editors and so on. I even send e-mail to "White House" and NGIN now tells me they ordered our guide to Washington DC to some institution named "National Council to prevent delinquency." Sometimes things work fast and I try to interfere wherever I may.
DID YOUR WORK-GROUP EVER GET ANY PUBLIC HELP?
Never, we applied to many places but with some subject like graffiti...you know. At city of Kassel we also tried since here all our publications are at local library. We got fooled by telling us graffiti was "nothing of relevance to youth matters" (BRANDKASSE KASSEL) and some other place (DIERICHS STIFTUNG) told us because we did work also outside of Kassel they did not see any cause to help us. You see there are specialists at all places. These "Brandkasse" (some insurance) issued a book on graffiti shortly after I asked for some help...so you know where they got their ideas from. You meet all kinds of "social idiots" that are some "pain in the back" all over the world and this is cause we have problems we have. Specialists that cannot really do their jobs...some life! But things might change. I now contacted European Union to start some graffiti-project. Training people that would try to change public policy towards graffiti and writers. Work on some MULTIPLICATORY LEVEL install some more sense...see what might happen.
